Description

Communication as a Couple

Date Night with FFI

Friday, February 12

8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

We believe date nights are essential for all couples – dating, engaged, AND married! Date Night with FFI provides married couples with an opportunity to spend quality time together, enjoy each other’s company, and have fun building up the gift of their marriage.

Communication in any relationship is important. Good communication in a marriage is essential. Both men and women bring communication gifts to the marriage – it’s critical that these complementary gifts are recognized and given the chance to thrive…now more than ever given the tensions families face. Communication in marriage is key to thriving rather than surviving.

The Messy Family Project

Michael and Alicia Hernon are on a mission to empower parents, strengthen marriage, and bring families to Christ. Their ministry, The Messy Family Project, began as a podcast and has grown into a multi-media platform that provides free resources to couples to encourage them and give them the tools they need to nurture their marriage as well as the culture within their family. Although the podcast reaches over 20,000 families every month, the Hernons also travel throughout the United States and internationally inspiring husbands and wives and sparking conversations between them. Steve and Katey Norman are a married couple who seek to have Jesus at the centre of their marriage, family and ministry. Both high school chaplaincy leaders coming from prodigal journeys, they love to walk with people on the road to encountering Christ and to see the transformation that takes place when someone lets the Lord be King of their life. They have been part of several ministries and given talks across Ontario and the United States and have a hunger for evangelization. Both men and women have been created by God and bring communication gifts into a marriage. God created us differently on purpose! We are mean to be complementary. Conflict arises when we do not recognize the gift found within our spouse’s communication style, but instead we think that our way is the only way. Listen to a talk from Alicia and Mike Hernon from the Messy Family Project.

Participate in a communication exercise as a couple using a handout created by Mike and Alicia. Fill out your own separate surveys and then bring your responses together for a discussion on how you can strengthen your communication.
