About Adora Namigadde

A common question I get from fellow Catholics goes something like, “Isn’t it so hard to be Catholic in such a secular environment?”

I work in journalism. My first job was at a CBS affiliate in Cadillac, MI. My last job was at an NPR affiliate in Columbus, OH. And now, I work for Chicago’s NPR station.

Working in secular journalism definitely has its challenges, and I often feel like I’m the only practicing Catholic around. Despite that feeling, working in secular life is a treat. I feel called to be here, and I think God can use me in a powerful way since I meet so many people from all walks of life in my work. As long as He calls me here and opens doors for me, I’m happy to stay.

August Disciples’ Night will be all about walking with Christ and being His hands and feet to others no matter how stacked the odds may seem against me. Christ said, “If the world hates you, know that it hated me first.” Thankfully I don’t feel hated, but these words often come to mind as I navigate my life and career.

Let’s remain connected to The Vine and encourage one another.
