With this post we want to turn our attention to those who are alone or finding more time on their hands and don’t necessarily have anyone to be with. Lonely or wondering “now what’s my purpose”, now that you don’t go into work, or perhaps you have lost your job. Maybe you’re even wondering, “who even needs me?”
Learn and Develop
Extra time on hands means there’s an opportunity to learn, develop and grow.FFI has put together a list of some of the good free programs offered at this time:
The Catholic quarantine hub from St. Paul Center
Formed – sign up as part of an organization, search for Family Foundations Institution
Alexander Harvard online course “Virtuous Leadership”
Coursera – paid and free courses available from institutions around the world
LinkedIn Learning – free access might be available through your public library
Make a phone call
Call a friend (call many)… now hearts are warm and open, it wouldn’t be strange to call up a friend from long ago to say you’re thinking of them; Skype/Facetime into a busy household to entertain and visit with a pre-schooler and be enlivened by a busy house. Check out our tips for digital connections.
Prayers for all those in need;
those alone, those without faith and family. Silent prayers are powerful when they are known only to God.
